Journal History
Logos: Eurasian Journal of Philosophy is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by Academician E. A. Buketov Karaganda National Research University. The journal publishes original research articles and review papers in the field of philosophy. It is intended to provide an open academic platform for the publication of research conducted by scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad. Particular attention is given to scholarly works addressing major philosophical problems, as well as to interdisciplinary research in the field of philosophy.
Logos: Eurasian Journal of Philosophy is the successor to the journal Bulletin of Karaganda University. History. Philosophy Series, which had been published since 1996. The continuity of the journal is reflected in the preservation of its established scholarly orientation, academic traditions, editorial principles, quality standards for published materials, and commitment to the development of historical scholarship. Thus, the new title represents a renewed stage in the institutional development of the publication, while its scholarly foundations and connection with the long-standing history of the former journal are preserved.
From 1996 to 2009, the journal was published exclusively in print, while from 2010 onward it began to be issued in both print and electronic formats. This development broadened access to scholarly materials and increased the visibility of published research. The former journal was assigned ISSN 2518-7236 for its print edition and ISSN 2663-5100 for its online edition.
In 2026, the publication marked the 30th anniversary of its foundation. Over this period, Bulletin of Karaganda University. History. Philosophy Series developed into a scholarly platform for publishing research by scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad on current issues in the history of Kazakhstan and world history, historiography, source studies, archaeology, ethnology, philosophy, and related fields of the social sciences and humanities. The journal contributed to the development of academic dialogue and the strengthening of research cooperation between scholars in Kazakhstan and other countries.
Beginning with Issue No. 1 (121) of 2026, Bulletin of Karaganda University. History. Philosophy Series was reorganized and divided into two independent scholarly journals. The reorganization was carried out pursuant to the decision of the Academic Council of Academician E. A. Buketov Karaganda National Research University dated January 30, 2026, Minutes No. 9. As a result, the philosophy section of the former journal began to be published as an independent scholarly journal under the title Logos: Eurasian Journal of Philosophy.
Establishing the philosophy section as an independent journal made it possible to strengthen the disciplinary specialization of the publication, clarify its scholarly profile, and focus editorial and peer-review activities on research in the field of philosophy. In transitioning to the new title, the journal retained continuity with the former publication in terms of its academic profile, thematic orientation, editorial policy, manuscript quality standards, and double-blind peer-review procedure.
All articles and materials published under the former title Bulletin of Karaganda University. History. Philosophy Series remain preserved in the archive and continue to be accessible to readers, authors, and researchers. The archive of the former publication constitutes an integral part of the bibliographic and scholarly history of Logos: Eurasian Journal of Philosophy, ensuring continuity of scholarly communication, preservation of academic memory, and continuation of the journal’s research tradition.
At present, Logos: Eurasian Journal of Philosophy operates as an open-access scholarly journal committed to the principles of open access, independent expert peer review, transparent editorial policy, publication ethics, and academic integrity.
